Now, at the height of the summer, I’m at the lowest point of activity. Humidity always does it to me. My coolest place is the darkroom. Wishing you all a very productive summer, and have a great week. Keep the news coming to me at the email address given above. – Marvin

FROM THE PRESIDENT
1. Summer Show: Sales in Summer 2009 have exceeded all summer art sales in 2008, and we still have half the show to go. Attendance was down over 20% again this weekend but sales were ahead of last year. We seem to be getting the right people.
Please cut and paste this email announcement and send it to your mailing list.
Art in changing perspectives
thru Aug 16 weekends 1 – 6PM
It’s a great place to catch a harbor breeze and snatch an affordable piece of art.
Among the 800 new works and 220+ exhibiting artists, four artists are featured -
Audrey Frank Anastasi, whose paintings capture the soul and essence of their subjects,
Joseph Anastasi and his grand scale presentation of photographic images which definitely offer an altered perspective
David DiPasquale’s spiritual, otherworldly qualities of light in his Octave Cycle paintings and
Arden Suydam’s Night Crossings – a unique perspective of the Brooklyn Bridge at night.
This weekend at the Pier:
Sat: In the BWAC Screening Room at 3PM – Short Films by Brooklyn Filmmakers
Nate Kensinger presents a selection of independent works by Brooklyn-based artists.
Sun: The Velvet Kings – an UnPlugged in Red Hook concert at 3PM
Inspired by the Django Reinhardt and European Gypsy-Jazz style, the Velvet Kings create a brash, dark sound in the
Ancient songs, decadent swing classics and jazz standards.
2. Words of Color: All current letters have been accepted. Letters will be sent out by this Friday. If you do not receive yours by Aug 8, contact bwacinfo@aol.com

MEMBERS’ NEWS
From Fall Show Co-Chairs Steven (Fritz) Weiss and Carlo Grassini about Words of Color:
This is a narrative show about the Words and the Colors of Art. It is open to all medium of art, performance and word requiring only your imagination. But above all it will require that you submit a narrative with your work in order to be hung on the center aisles, although we would prefer every panel have a narrative. Your narrative can be one word to one page long. If your narrative is an integrated into your work it is not necessary to submit a separate narrative. The narrative can be a statement, poem, or story.
Further to the Edge: Like the Summer Show, the 200′s Bay will allow total freedom of, what, where and how your work is displayed on your panel. You can have as many works with or without frames as you can hang. You even choose your own panel. We encourage more members to take advantage of this opportunity.
If you need an extra large panel to present your work, please submit your Images, Words, thoughts, ideas and suggestions to steven_weiss@verizon.net and cart2gonow@nyc.rr.com .
The Words of Color speculates, insinuates and attempts to define the discourse of the essential elements of Art as the Word and Word as the Art: Color, Balance, Texture, Image, Song, Performance, Dance, Poem, Emotion, Concept:
BWAC artist Rich Rosenblatt was honored with the Jack Richeson Materials Award for his painting “Long shadows, Central Park”,
at the Salmagundi club’s annual non-member juried exhibition in July.
